Community Outreach Committee

Hi everyone!

In order to keep you all up to date on the goings-on of student council, we have decided to post the minutes of the various committees. This is what the community outreach committee discussed during the student council meeting:

Description of the Committee

·      Description: The community outreach committee will work to improve neighborhood relations and encourage Pres girls to be conscientious of their needs.

·      Types of events and jobs:

·      Awareness campaign in homerooms about neighborhood respect; monthly tips in the bulletin, flyers, or video advertisements.

·      Carpooling and bike-riding incentives; free dress passes, spirit points, bike/carpool t-shirts, online carpool match, some way of recording bikers

·      Delivering newsletters to the neighborhood three times a year for Ms. Pizarro along with gifts such as poinsettias at Christmas.

·      Meet with the neighbor liaison, Christine, about what she would like to see from students.

·      Offer incentives for neighbors to become more invested in Pres- discounted play tickets, game announcements, etc.

·      Give out flyers in community coffeehouses about upcoming events, for example swim to remember

  1. Leadership Positions in the Committee
    • Descriptions

                                               i.     Leader (Alisha Azevedo) – acts as the facilitator and the head of the committee

                                             ii.     Assistant (Shabnam Golmohammadi) – helps the leader as second-in-command

                                            iii.     Recorder – takes minutes and submits them to ASB (Katie Correia)

                                            iv.     Reporter – reports on committee events to the student council at closure (Ashley Vong)

                                              v.     Publicity – works on advertising the events or works of the committee (Ramey Parks and Anisha Agrawel)

                                            vi.     Historian – takes pictures of the goings-on of the committee (Maddie O’Hara)
