Hey Panthers,
Hope you all are having a great summer so far!
Your 2010-2011 ASB has already been hard at work planning for next year!
We even came up with our Student Council theme for the year:
Motivation + Unification = One Panther Nation
Catchy isn’t it? It encompasses our goals as your ASB and will help us to have a great year.
We know that school is the farthest thing on your mind, but we thought it might be helpful to remind you of the summer reading lists so that you can be sure to get those books read.
INCOMING FRESHMEN:
The Secret Life of Bees—Sue Monk Kidd
Funny in Farsi—Firoozeh Dumas
Breaking Through—Francisco Jimenez
INCOMING SOPHOMORES:
The Samurai’s Garden—Gail Tsukiyama
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd—Agatha Christie
The Sunflower—Simon Wiesenthal (Just read the first portion of the book by Wiesenthal; your teacher next year may assign some of the essays later.)
INCOMING JUNIORS AND SENIORS:
My Sister’s Keeper—Jodi Picoult
The Outliers—Malcolm Gladwell
The Girl with the Pearl Earring—Tracy Chevalier
Beside reading, don't forget to rejuvenate yourselves for the fall semester! Relax, go to beach, and hopefully this weather will get nicer so we can enjoy our summer!
Love always,
Your 2010-2011 ASB
(Alyssa, Kayla, Ramey, Lauren, Natasha)

Bike to School and Neighborhood Reminders
Hi Everyone!
This has been a very busy week so far! Just a quick reminder to Bike to School this week for spirit points! You can park your bike on the field in the morning, then go to the gym foyer for a student council member to sign you in. It's environmentally friendly and fun, especially as the spirit point race is racing toward the finish!
The city council meeting with the neighborhood is also tonight. Hopefully many of you came out to show your Panther Pride and support. As we interact with our neighbors regularly, here are some important reminders:
- DO NOT make a three-point turn using a neighbor's driveway. Though this is technically legal, it disrupts traffic in the mornings and causes an inconvenience. Many students have received detentions for unawareness of this rule.
- DO NOT block driveways or pull into red zones. Also, try not to park too close to garbage cans or park on top of piles of leaves or lawn clippings.
- DO NOT allow your parents to use the visitor or faculty spots as drop offs, unless the student is cleared to do so because of an injury. Drop off zones are in front of school and behind the gym.
Let's continue to make the neighborhood a safe place!
